Samson's Piece Painting

Samson's Piece is a dedication to the artist's partner, Samson, and his journey from his hometown of Norfolk, Virginia, to Northern California. The work takes place in three realms: the first is the realm of reality, within which Samson walks along a mural representational of the space that was his home, the space that will be his new home, and the liminal memories and figureheads exiting between them. The second realm is the realm of the ancient, the flower path upon which the foundation of the piece is built. The third is the dream realm, which stands above the mosaic mural, and includes flora both real and imagined, exploring the possibility of what could have been and was, and what lies ahead for the future.
