This year, he decided his sister's hamster makes a much better pocket square than the stupid one his mom bought.

As the holiday cards start pouring in, I can see the anguish on the faces of the young boys, wanting desperately to take off the coats and ties and get back to their playing in the mud. I wanted to capture the vibe of a rebellious kid forced to smile for the camera. I used a combination of my colorful portrait rendering and my flat, simple outline styles to emphasize the playful nature of the theme. This time, the crasher is a pet hamster to bring out humor. I used a dark background to make the face pop.

This piece's edge is painted green.

Joselyn paints in a contemporary, flat style, utilizing bold color to render her uplifting subjects. Her compositions are playful, often including an unexpected element, unique juxtaposition, or unconventional use of scale. Raised in an artistic, modern design-centered family, Joselyn was highly influenced by her father, a noted architect, in her pursuit of creative outlets. In 2012, Joselyn survived two life-threatening illnesses, thanks to a bone marrow transplant from her brother and a relentless sense of humor. She emerged with a new-found desire to simplify life and create works that spark a smile.
