Santa Frida depicts Kahlo inspired by her diary pages and aims to show a side of Frida that is often unseen, as opposed to her iconic flower crown image. She was a deeply troubled and complex woman with many sides to her character that were revealed through her own artwork, however, her diary pages truly reveal her innermost thoughts and feelings and are reflected in this melancholy painting.
