ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting is a connection of my aerial landscapes of rice paddies and a top view of koi fish. The floral components are inspired from Asian traditional clothing like the kimono. The fish are laid on top of and between the landscape and the scales are taken off to incorporate detail into the background (landscape) to further merge the fish into the rest of the painting.

Thien was born in Vietnam, Bien Hoa Dong Nai, northeast of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). His family came to the United States in 1992 when he was about 3 years old. Thien believes that growing up in a culturally diverse neighborhood helped him keep an open mind on how to live our daily lives as well as important factors/issues. He believes that has a big influence on how he creates his own artwork. Thien specializes in abstract landscapes, mostly involving mountainous terrain because of their natural abstract shapes. ​​
