James is an exciting young artist emerging onto the London art scene. His delicate work on aluminium juxtaposes the human and the industrial in a process that relies on both on his artistic skill and his playful use of light. Images of delicate realism are often combined with engraving, sometimes visual Morse Code, sometimes an attempt to capture light itself.
James – ‘This work was created as part of an exhibition at the Byron Cinema in Hucknall called ‘Breaking the Fourth Wall’. The three drawings were inspired by the film Psycho, which I have never seen, so I was interested how the visual tropes from the movie have permeated our culture and now exist independently.'
Charcoal and engraving on aluminium sheeting. This artwork has been mounted on a wooden base so that it appears to ‘float’ three quarters of an inch above the wall without a frame or it can be mounted within a frame. This wooden base cannot be removed without damaging the artwork.
