About The Artwork

In the painting “Scythian Strength and Grace” from the “From Ukraine with Love” series, I depicted the spirit of free, fast, courageous birds. I turned to the ancient and mysterious history of Ukraine, when our lands were inhabited by brave, warlike and developed peoples. These tribes have left a mark on our culture. Now in my country there is a terrible and unequal struggle for our freedom. With this series of paintings, I convey and send the spirit of strength, courage and rebelliousness to evil. Our warriors are now fighting for our identity as resolutely as our ancient ancestors. The painting uses elements of the traditional animal style in Scythian gold jewelry. I am inspired by the dynamics, strength, courage of the depicted figures of animals and people on gold jewelry. The most famous ancient decoration is the Golden Pectoral, elements of which I used and stylized in my painting. In his paintings, the main connecting element is the female image. I put a lot of symbols that are important to me into my painting. For me, a woman is like a bird, she can be tender, vulnerable, but when you need to fight for your values, freedom can be brave, strong and stubborn. This is the image of Ukraine at the moment. With my work, I support the spirit of resistance and courage of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I love using watercolor in my painting. Watercolor conveys the state, light, air, aroma, sounds of nature. Through this material, I manifest and convey consonance with the world. A series of my paintings is united by one theme - the struggle of the Ukrainian people. In this watercolor painting series, I used graphic elements with a gel pen. The paintings are made in a restrained brown-gray scale with the addition of yellow and blue elements, the colors of our flag. Now, my paintings are dominated by the colors of scorched earth, ashes, there are no bright colors of life.

Hello ! I am an artist from Ukraine. I draw and painting from early childhood. Creativity - my whole life. In my work, I am inspired by the world around me: nature, the female image, the architecture of cities, the sea. I like to express my understanding of the world and what is happening through symbolism in paintings. In my paintings I often use stylization, ornaments, collages of figures, flowers, architecture. The female image is the most important for me in painting. In my work, I am inspired by the surrounding world: nature, the female image, the architecture of cities, the sea. I like to express my feelings and understanding through symbolism in the paintings. I love watercolor for its elusiveness, danger, unpredictability. I find these traits in the female image as well. Watercolors are delicate, unpredictable, you never know how the paint will lay on paper, how the colors will flow and mix. I love to create series of paintings that inspire me: woman, flowers, Renaissance, Impressionism, Art Nouveau. Watercolor is my whole life! It is light, airy, momentary - as the paint lay down, so it will be. Therefore, when you create a picture, you don’t fully know how it will end up. I often draw tender, vulnerable female images, as I myself have been subjected to sexism, humiliation, pressure due to the fact that I am a woman. I myself fought for my freedom of expression, I am proud that I am an artist. With my painting, I inspire people to search for beauty around us. I take part in art exhibitions. I never expect inspiration in my life! It is always with me. My motto is beauty, light, harmony in every work! I have been painting since birth. I studied for many years and still do not stop improving in painting. I always said that I would create under the bombs. And now this time has come. And yes, I continue to work. Only now I'm sitting with a brush, and inside I'm squeezing from anger, pain, resentment. Many of us fight in different ways: someone with a gun, someone with a word, someone with creativity. I loved symbolism and now I am trying to convey the bright image of Ukraine with gray, dark colors. https://www.facebook.com/olga.larina.art https://www.instagram.com/larinamagicart
