Hello, and thank you for your interest. My name is Paul Vlachos from Queens New York, I am the son of Tom and Iris Vlachos. My father an immigrant from Greece who was a house painter taught me about painting and mixing colors at a young age, and my mother who was a natural artist has always inspired me. My view is that art, discovery, invention, and personal expression has always been an important part of our history. My mission in life is to bring our next generation into art, and science. My two children Paul Jr., and Gigi marie have both made art an important part of their lives. As a retired general contractor from a work accident, my life as an artist sprung into action. I became obsessed with doing art, inventing art, teaching art, and displaying my art. But I went much further and realized art is connected to everything in life. While collecting leaves for some art relief pieces during every fall season I discovered the only two handed single stem leaf the world has ever seen, even to this day. This is a great specimen for getting kids back into discovery, and art. While searching the banks of the Hudson river for specimens to use in my sculptures I discovered an ancient artifact site with over four thousand pieces recovered, but these are special stones not only used for knapping spear, and arrow points but were used to make the first art ever created by man. The rare stones are chalcedony,(microcryptocrystalline) layers of blacks, whites, and other colors. As these ancients rubbed finger divots while flint knapping they realized the color would change, and that's where it all began. Art and science are always connected somehow. Deep within my soul resides a million years of art from the past into the future, a direct connection to the accusia record, (the energy stream that runs through the universe). I am an advocate for the disabled, an artist, an author, botanist, inventor, archaeologist, anthropologist, art, and science blogger, therapeutic art teacher, and political activist for the arts, and sciences.
