Oil on linen 38x28x2cm (15x11x0.8in) 2021, ready to hang. “Self portrait n.2” is the fourth of a series of self portrats which I painted between December 2020 and January 2021. In this series I worked on the same subject with different techniques. All these portraits are painted on a linen canvas with dimensions 28x38cm, painted on the sides and stretched on a supported wooden frame. “Self portrait n.2” is a mix between expressionism and realism in which the brush strokes are visible and the detail is carefully studied. The deep cobalt blue of the background highlights the acid colours of the face. “Self portrait n.2” is an oil portrait painted with top quality colours, ready to hang and signed on the front and back.

In my paintings I focus on figures and their interaction with the landscape and architecture. After spending some years being very faithful to the samples, I am now experimenting different styles of painting and alternating portraits (mainly commissions) with sperimental artworks. Also, I am increasingly taking advantage of image editing softwares in pre-production to find the best colours and lights for the painting. I use oil colours both on wood and linen. All the materials used in the artworks are high quality, from hand primed canvas (by myself, using a classic method that prevents from aging and deterioration) to colours.
