About The Artwork

Created with the idea of long distance relationship in mind. The time spent together is precious and valued. The viewer is invited to notice the detail in every part of the canvas as it's own and then to take a step back and read the painting as one. This concept is similar to listening to a string quartet, very similar in sounds but once the ear listens to each instrument separately, and then as a whole, one can then begin to gather the emotion created by the composer. Painting will come wrapped and protected in a box built for the canvas. any additional information about the painting please contact me at knmillsart@gmail.com

Kelly Mills (b. 1989, United States) grew up in Louisiana and found out at a young age that he is related to an american architect, Robert Mills. This influenced him and put him on a path of building and design. He studied architecture at Auburn University and realized after a year he wanted to pursue painting. After 6 years of painting and discovering new processes, he attended Savannah College of Art and Design where he studied fine art and participated in several group and solo exhibitions. Kelly takes each piece of work as its own and spontaneously creates something that is a brand new. Similar to architecture, he builds up each painting in layers and dissects them in squares, from there he chooses what to keep and what to paint over based off of harmony and unity. Through this process he create marks that have weight and become objects on the surface of the painting. The idea of the right amount of labor and thought justifies a finished piece.
