About The Artwork
Shell in Purple is from a series of impressionistic studies looking at individual sea shells. I wanted to look into the interior of the shell. The colours are imagined and dream like. I used oil with cold wax medium in multiple layers, scratching a rubbing back for a complex surface. The painting on paper is mounted on a cradled wooden panel.
