ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I was hiking on Mount Shibaoshan in the Yunnan Province of China. I was struck by the immense beauty of the place, the colors of nature and of the temples at the top that were the reward of the walk. As I do when I hike, I paid a good bit of attention to the path map, in this case, imprinted on a wooden placard at the foot of the mountain. Many of my paintings have to do with paths and trail maps, allegorically or pragmatically. In this case if you put 'Shibaoshan I' and Shibaoshan II' together you could literally use it as a trail map.
