I like painting marine scenes, especially boats. Shrimp boats are interesting because they are unique in their construction and colors. The shrimping industry is a vital business in Tampa. I want my viewers to appreciate Florida and the things that make it interesting and the fishing industry is certainly one of them. Watercolor is my favorite medium for capturing light, details and atmosphere. J. M. W. Turner, the great British watercolorists, inspires me to get at the “sublime.”
