Shut It Painting

This piece is call “Shut It,” painted using acrylic on a 11”x14” stretched canvas. I had been in a creative drought for a while, desperately needing a break after constantly creating and being pulled at as a creative with commission deadlines and without a ventilated space to paint with my oils. After a day of creative inspiration at the museums, it hit me: am I victimizing my own self to not do what I really love to do just because of restricted brain and studio space? Do women constantly put barriers on their own road to success because of a fear of actually making it? I decided to say **ck it, and instead of creating with my beloved oils I forced my hard body acrylics to accomplish a similar look and feel. I beg the viewer to question the following: are you really being nasty if you’re not shouting and running after your maximum potential while crashing down your own self-inflicted limits?
