Silent Storm Painting

Anxiety Ridden: He was art; unparted with his pens, and brushes. He blushed at your compliments, for it was just a way to keep from losing his pose to sanity, a dainty piece rocking against his wall, making him stay together just one more day. Most of my artwork speaks to the trauma I experienced as a child. Childhood is to be bright and the years of eager learning and growing, but as reality of the world around us sinks in, we begin to use the intellectual habits we were taught as kids to guide us through life. However, I had no childhood. I was raped and beaten from the age of 5. I endured years of aches and pains and I eventually realized I had to face the harsh realities of the storms approaching. I took a year to paint this photo. It started out as a weeping willow tree and eventually changed into Grey's and blacks to Sunshine's and clouds. In the end, I found what my heart was searching for. A balance between the good and bad. I found the light that guided me and prepared me for the storms. While I can see a storm approaching I can hold onto that light and know I'm a survivor.
