About The Artwork

This plein-air piece was created on a warm, sunny morning at Silver Lake, situated at an elevation of 8,985 feet. Painted in the presence of a majestic mountain and the shimmering waters filled with alpine snowmelt, this artwork encapsulates the artist's impression of the moment. The clarity of the sky, the sparkles on the water, and the vibrant, sun-drenched rocks are all captured in this impressionist work. Part of a series of six paintings, each piece reflects the artist's pursuit of pure colors and shades, capturing the fleeting and capricious nature of the landscape. The series exemplifies the artist's dedication to depicting the ever-changing beauty of the natural world through impressionism.

Anya Pautova is an artist from Saint Petersburg, Russia. She graduated with Master's of Art in 2021 and started her own art practice from exploring possibilities and techniques of visual language. Anya's main mediums are gouache, tempera, oil pastel and watercolors for painting; pencil, inks, and gel pen for graphics. Artist dedicates a lot of time to historical research of old master's techniques and secrets, while experimenting with contemporary visual environment and context. Anya prefers to work outside, like impressionist and use nature's beauty and it's inconsistency as the main source of inspiration. Between 2017-2019 years Anya Pautova has attended Saint Petersburg vanguard art group "Form + Color" led and inspired by Genadyi Zubkov, the successor and student of Vladimir Sterligov, who inherited Kazimir Malevitch' and early 20th century Russian vanguard ideas. Artist uses in her art many instruments, ideas and visual forms she learnt in this school of thought. Mikhail Matushin and his perspective of color composition inspire her a lot. Anya is a traveling artist. She travels to see life and nature wonders in various places and to capture it in her works, often switching between techniques, mediums, and formats. In her portfolio you can find mural art works and book illustrations, detailed studio works and quick impression etude studies. Be welcome to join her on this journey.
