About The Artwork
I have had this concept in my head for years. The earliest sketch I could find was from 2017. This painting was started back in the beginning of 2020, but after taking a break I was feeling anxious to go back to it. However, now that I finished it I am extremely pleased with the result - it is now my favorite artwork that I have done so far and I am very happy to share it with you. I was inspired by the campy elements of old horror movies to portray a woman being eaten by a fish, giving the illusion of a mermaid.

Metodija Jovanov is a Macedonian artist. While painting with acrylics and oils is his main focus, as a creative visual artist he also dips his toes in photo and video editing, and collage from time to time. In his art he explores a wide variety of topics, however his muse is, by and large, pop culture. Metodija labels his art and style as “excellent kitsch” protesting the pretentiousness of “good taste” and minimalism.
