Sissinghurst In July Painting

An illustrative watercolour painting inspired by the vivid colour and texture of the National Trust gardens at Sissinghurst Castle in Kent, UK. The sketches, photographs and notes were gathered in situ during the month of July. Each element was then painted individually, one after the other, gradually building up a sense of depth in this continuous texture of flowers and plants. I am constantly inspired by the dense worlds within hedgerows, gardens and other natural environments that although may sometimes be cared for and nurtured by us, have mostly been allowed to take their own course and develop naturally. The painting has been professionally framed by Wealden Framers in Kent, with glass, a white double mount and a simple white lacquered wooden frame. The painting itself is approximately A3 in size but the dimensions given here include the mount and frame.
