About The Artwork

The painting is titled "The Skull Contemplating the Bible, Candle, and Portrait as Symbols of Knowledge, Life, and Beauty." I embarked on this project in September 2021 and completed it in February 2023. To begin, I did an underpainting with natural umber, then I applied multiple layers of glazing, old masters technique. I developed the composition myself, purchasing a goat skull and placing it alongside a Bible and a candle on a table. I experimented with different colors and arrangements, striving for simplicity. To achieve this, I employed the rule of thirds, positioning the focal objects above the bottom third of the painting. "The Skull Contemplating the Bible, Candle, and Portrait as Symbols of Knowledge, Life, and Beauty." Lili Cabarli 2021-2023 France Will be available on September 2023.

Lili Cabarli was born in Crimea in 1994. She is a self-taught painter. She is best known for creating figurative paintings in realism style. Her artworks have dual meaning, functioning as both beautiful still-life pieces and parables about beauty and momentariness, causes and consequences, life versus death. Cabarli's artistic vision is influenced by the silent beauty of everyday objects that often go unnoticed. She believes that a painter's role is to communicate a message through visual elements, while the viewer's task is to decode them. For her works she uses high-end oil colors and linen canvas. She has been studying and using old masters technique. Now Lili lives and works in the South of France.
