About The Artwork
I created this piece with oil paint and cold wax medium. Cold wax is a delicious paste of beeswax and mineral spirits that adds malleability and texture to the paint. This was inspired by a torn off sticky note against a black background. I liked the simple composition and added layer upon layer of textured paint and cold wax, scraping back and incising as I went. As the piece evolved I began to think of layers of time and history, and of light evolving from darkness. I love to use oil and cold wax to create intuitive work that evokes what I can't say with words.
