About The Artwork
The series called Smoldering Ghosts was inspired by the thought of being haunted by old bad ideas, and how good it feels when they evaporate. You can, it turns out, leave the past behind. These figures are connected to my body of work depicting the effects of climate change- the fire paintings. In a way, these smoldering ghosts are partly culprits and partly representations of not people, but unworkable ideas. I picked the blue colored background because it's been a traditional color to make monochromatic drawings and paintings on.
