Conceptual double-sided painting-talisman (2 of 2) that I started to work on during the hours of solar moon eclipse that took place on February 26, 2017. (the painting is also dated by the date of its 'birth' and not of its completion). The process involved painting on both sides of the ungessoed fabric thus letting the sides visually complement and interact with each other. The project was inspired by the blotches of color (inside closed eyes) after staring at the full moon at night. Video demo: https://vimeo.com/206559531

As an artist, I share a spiritual kinship with primitive and archaic art. I believe that its true significance lies not merely in formal arrangements, but in the spiritual meaning underlying all archaic works. ///// My painting process is similar to a shamanic ritual, where suspension of reasoning plays a key role in the creative process. To me, abstraction is a tool to escape intellectual and creative confines. In my art practice, I seek not only fresh means of expression but the origins of artistic creation itself.///// I like to draw in bed with closed eyes when I am half asleep. When I look at the result next morning I decide whether the work is complete or the process should be repeated. My painting practice follows the same principle. I like to paint in twilight and choose colours randomly, i.e. letting a dice roll decide. Thus, by deliberately reducing personal control I attempt to turn it into a process where a pure and uncontrolled randomness can produce by itself a sort of orderly homogeneity.///// (I sign my works with the alias 'Xgeronimo")
