About The Artwork
«SOLAR DUALITY» 60х40х8см Bas-relief, Wood, chipboard, acrylic, gold enamel. 2020 (1/2) The work was created entirely by hand using woodcarving. In total, 2 copyright copies will be produced, each of which will be executed manually. The suns are cut out on the surface of the chipboard and deepened by 0.5 cm. The background has different shades of black, green and other halftones. The suns are painted with gold enamel and sparkle depending on the viewing angle when light hits. The work is framed in a thick wooden frame with corners painted with gold enamel. There is a mount on the back side and the work is completely ready for installation. Creating this work I was inspired by the aesthetics of alchemical manuscripts and medieval sacred art. The sun is one of the most important symbols that accompanies humanity throughout its existence. On the one hand, it fills the Earth with light and heat, on the other hand, it emits radiation and is able to destroy life on the planet. So we live in a world governed by the laws of duality, which in turn encourages us to think more broadly.

ASTIAN REY Born in 1987 in Kiev, Ukraine. Astian Rey is the founder of his own direction of art - “Sacred Brutalism”. In his work he explores themes of religion, mysticism and the occult, as well as their role in the development of humanity. Astian is known for his interdisciplinary approach to art, including sculpture, installation, literature and musical-performative experiments. He is the author of the Codex Reptilius project, which is an artificially created mystical cult with its own book, sacred objects and music album. The works are in private and public collections in Ukraine, the USA and Europe.
