Something something heart Painting

As with most of the paintings in this series, the original image is a stock photograph which is then reproduced in oil paint. Grey tones for the skin act to remove all traces of ethnicity, making the hand neutral to fit with the heart. We all have one, for the large part they all look the same, so what better image to show equality and peace between humanity. This idea is in juxtaposition with the aesthetics of the image, the almost aggressive black outlines of the hand holding a heart. It becomes violent as an image alone but is calmed by the heavily thinned layer of multicoloured pigment in the background that had been allowed to run and drip, creating its own path acting in contrast to the harsh forced lines of the main image.
