Sound Advice Painting

This work was inspired by architecture and the way that sharp, man-made forms can, when juxtaposed against one another create the illusion of an organic landscape. I have employed colour to instil a hierarchy that challenges the dominance of size. The piece is meant to be explored - it isn't a set image but rather a landscape of shapes within which the viewer can imagine structures. As such, the orientation of the piece is subjective and different viewers may find narratives when viewed from alternate perspectives. Thus it is an invitation for the viewer to become part of the creative process. Modern man-made forms have converged on the rectilinear under the burden of economic necessity and notions of practicality. Conversely, the natural world generally eschews straight lines. I wanted to challenge that dichotomy.
