About The Artwork

The fruit that the nation bore is now being destroyed by its offspring. Scripture says that "The fathers have eaten sour grapes and put the children's teeth on edge". I now live in a society where it was once peaceful and tranquility was the order of the day. Now there is profound violence that is rather disturbing. I thought how did this occur. Our children were not properly socialized and are heavily influenced by foreign cultures. There is very little mentoring which would serve to equip them with better decision making skillset. Painted with acrylic on gallery canvas (ready to be hung wire included.)

Like most children, Christine enjoyed constructing 3D art forms from everyday items. She remembers gathering wooden shingles and burning them to create various shades and textures eventually creating a large wall mosaic in her family’s living room. The result was received with such positive feedback that this piece was allowed to remain on the wall for several years. Receiving constant affirmations from her mother who encouraged her to experiment with various art forms developed her love for nature and art. Her childhood visits to the island of Eleuthera via mail boat stimulated her love for the various hues of blue. During her visits to the local markets the images of ripen summer fruits with their brilliant colors infused with her daily swims in our tropical seas created indelible memories. In addition, the pastel coloured buildings lining the streets throughout the community also proved to be an early source of inspiration for ages to come. These early images of brilliant colors provided the prima materia for her affinity for landscape themes which are now prominently incorporated into her paintings. Though offered a full scholarship to study art in England, Christine opted to remain an intuitive artist offering subject matters from the heart and soul rather than an academic position. She prefers the medium of acrylic paints which allows her to easily convey strong color elements that are so intrinsic in her art. Her paintings are infused with broad brush strokes, muted tones and texture for effect. As time progress she now incorporates more expressionistic elements in her work. Newer pieces reflect stronger contrast and subject matters are approached to provoke more social consciousness amongst viewers than a technical perspective. The dynamics of the world are ever changing, art continues to influence that change through various media. She offers you her perspective which will continue to evolve with time.
