About The Artwork
Space Hive started in my backyard as an experiment in large mark making. In collaboration with artists Julia Pinkham and Cameron Huddleston, we started it by wrapping Cameron in plastic and bubble wrap and then he rolled across the canvas. Super entertaining in the midst of Covid lockdown! The painting evolved after that with gestural marks and paint applied in other depositing methods. The final layer I applied with a liner brush to create a web of compartments that evolved into a hive that the viewer can see when stepping closer to the work.
