About The Artwork

The Spanish Town Court House fire of 1986 Inspired me to do this artwork. I lived nearby when this event happened, it began Very Early in the Morning, In fact, the Bright Light from the fire woke me up I thought the Sun was up, but when I looked at the clock in my room it was about an hour after midnight so I got up out of bed to see what was causing the bright light outside, when I looked through my window I saw people running in the direction of the Courthouse and they were saying to each other that it's a Very big Fire and somewhere was burning down, I immediately ran downstairs and woke up my Mother and sisters I told them that there is a Very big fire somewhere up the road, so we all go out of the house and ran up the road. while going up the road we saw that it was the Spanish town Courthouse. It was the biggest fire I ever saw in my life, up to now I have never seen a fire so huge. The first set of fire trucks ran out of water Very quickly so other fire trucks had to come, fire hydrants were there but the fire got out of control and engulfed the entire building, the fire was too huge, all that was left was just the structure when the fire was finish. It was an amazing sight our community was lit up like the sun was up. The fire woke up the entire community like the sun. I can remember the incident as if it were yesterday, so I created this artwork in memory of the Original Building which was a Very Beautiful Building before the fire. so when persons see this artwork they will have an idea of what the Building looked like and also remember the year and the event that took place in 1986
