About The Artwork
Spin Control is a painting on paper mounted to a cradled board with hanger. I love a sense of movement and reacting to very fluid paint combined with more heavily textured areas. Color is important as a sense of space and mood. Spin Control is part of my Pending Situations series in which I've been thinking a lot about spatial relationships in regards to the precarious nature of balance. The work is in response to and in observation of tensions and much of it implies an impending impact, objects about to topple--or not. The work can feel that it's vibrating, squeezed, buoyant. I’m interested in those in-between moments and situations in flux.
