About The Artwork
I was inspired by the book of Murakami which tells about a student and later an elementary school teacher, K. is in love with his friend Sumire, who aspires to be a writer. She also meets Miu, a much older businesswoman, and falls in love with her. Subsequently, Sumire, being with Miu on one of the Greek islands, disappears. K. joins the search and becomes involved in a world of strange and ominous visions, including the story of Miu's "split". Finally Sumire returns and reveals himself. According to Murakami himself, “My Favorite Sputnik” is one of his “stories about anomalous things happening to normal people” I tried to draw Sumi's character, very different, beautiful, colorful, with deep and penetrating eyes, to give a sense of mystery, a strange and different reality...and a very memorable and beautiful face.
