When you look at your loved one, you see that he is also made of stars and carries eternity inside." - How To Love by Thich Nhat Hanh STAR POWER is a collection of 13 works that explore colour variations within the star shape. These works reflect on our own star quality and how much of it is weighed down by the burden of always trying to be something or somewhere we are not. Each star embodies a unique colour combination, and radiates a specific light that makes each of these works a unique moment in history. Just like ourselves. Star Power carries this as a centring thought to the hands of the person it connects with. Having the star shape as the base to each of these works, it became an opportunity to start a more in depth study of colour and texture. The frame is made to measure, designed by me and handcrafted alongside local artisans.

“My work is a continuous experimentation between the figurative and the abstract. Themes such as the body, nature, color and the erotic have been persistent interests over time. I’m currently drawn to a figurative that emerges from my imagination, and moves away from realism. More than following a strict logic, the experience of making the work is driven by curiosity and potentiality. I feel like my images invite the viewer to experience my subconscious, conveying a feeling of freedom. Art is a practice in which I explore inspiration, attraction, desire and sexuality in the search for an aesthetic that, first and foremost, aims to satisfy the self.” Sebastião Paz Costa (b. 1995 in Porto, Portugal) is a young artist working with painting and drawing. He received his BFA in 2019 in Multimedia at FBAUP. He currently resides and has his studio in the northen countryside of Portugal.
