S T A R L I T ✶ C O U P L E, original painting | framed | ready to hang on the wall. Dimensions: 48,4 (width) x 63,5 (height) x 3,5 cm (depth) / 19.1 x 25 x 1.4 in. Frame: high quality antique-bronze "wooden" frame with light sand passe-partout and non-reflective glass. Natural materials: ink, coffee, natural pigments & ruby shellac (natural binder). Paper: FABRIANO Torchon extra rough (270 gsm). Artwork is signed (also on the back of the frame). About | "Maybe it's real or maybe it's not, it's just ― something is missing. Have I waited too long?" is the beginning of a poem that I wrote many years ago. Its idea is not that different from the concept of the series The Two of Us that I have started a few years before and then continued 'till today. Although I've been constantly experimenting with many styles, scenes and other elements, my last works from the series still hold the essence of the original idea. The idea is not just to express emotions but rather to dive as deep as I can into my imagination and to search what I truly wish for. "If I can't find it outside, can I find it 'inside'?" The "Starlit Couple" therefore continues 'the series The Two of Us'. It is an expression of something that is beyond and timeless, captured at a glance of time ― forever. I made this artwork with only natural materials, because I believe they are the only ones who can give all the 'essential features' needed.

Andrej Mratinković was born in 1984 in a town Celje in Slovenia. He graduated at the Department of Fine Arts at University of Maribor in 2011. When he decided to study fine art, he quickly came to realize that his work will also be to deeply analyze all the components that will give him an artwork that he truly strive for; and for that he would need a lot of exploration, experimentation and experience. A turning point in his artistic development was the discovery of artworks by sculptor Mirsad Begić, who inspired him with his incredible work, personal mythology and introduced him to natural materials, especially "coffee". Mratinković's main fields of creativity are drawing, painting, small sculptures, digital art and graphic design. His art work is often linked with concepts like: imagination, primacy, archaism, mysteriousness, mysticism and poetics. /// Contact:
