About The Artwork

I'm a metal artist applying metals to painting. And I seek the harmony of these two different categories and tries to make them in good balance. My artworks are differentiated from normal painting in many ways. All of them essentially include metal as a material that is to be combined with various other materials. This artwork also consists of delicate thin steel wires. Therefore, it has distinctive matière and three-dimensional effects. As for me, metal is such a suitable material to express my thoughts and sensibilities so I always try to reflect my inspiration into various metallic materials. Basically, metal looks and feels hard and cold, but on the other hand, it also has different characteristics that are gentle and delicate. Similar to metal’s characteristics, there are a lot of precious things with its intrinsic beauty in nature but people do not really recognize the beauties of nature at a glance. When I get to find out and feel such beauties of nature that are literally ‘hidden’, they fascinate and inspire me so that I can create something to express that beauty as an artist. I would like people to hear what I talk about through my artworks and feel its beauty and sensibility.

I’m a metal artist and painter, applying metal works to painting. Though I’m a Korea based artist, I’m very active internationally. For many years I’ve been working in Japan, France, and the U.S.A. with lots of galleries. I seek the harmony of two different categories, metal work and painting. And I try to make them in good balance and moderation. So my artwork is differentiated from normal painting in many ways. Every work includes metals (aluminum, steel, stainless steel, etc.), which are combined with various other materials (wood, plaster, etc.) It has distinctive matière and three-dimensional effects. And it’s possible to adjust the size or color of artworks, according to collectors’ requests. I think artwork can be a good communication method even if it’s not a language. So I always try to express various thoughts and emotions in my work. Because I think communication is always the most important requirement for artwork. There are many beautiful things, not visible but do exist in this world. When I feel and recognize them, they fascinate me and stir up my sensitivity. I would like to share with everyone the beauty that I feel and express through artworks.
