Steve the Pink Gallah Painting

Sarah Ranner runs a small business called The Postmodern Pet specialising in Animal portraiture. Sarah uses exaggerated colours and contrasting backgrounds to create a modern /pop art look. Most artworks are created on commission from the animal owner, however, some pieces (like this one) are created without a commission - inspired by a particular animal. This beautiful boy isn’t actually named Steve - my cousin Steve spotted him injured on a road and rescued him. He was clearly a domesticated bird, but he was injured and couldn’t fly. Steve wrapped him up safely in a blanket and got him to the local vet. His owner was found and he made a full recovery. But I named this piece Steve, in honour of the brave rescuer. It’s quite a task to get an injured Gallah to the vet - I tried myself once and received a very nasty bite!
