Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org ARTIST BIO// Sam Rueter is a mixed media artist and painter who utilizes the female form to represent a larger narrative. She has collaborated with large creative projects such as ‘I am an Artist’ with The Other Art Fair, and exhibited a live installation for The Entrepreneur’s Organization East Coast Conference. Rueter has been the featured artist on the cover of Skirt Magazine, and her work has been featured in world-renowned publications, such as Art and Antiques Magazine and World Interiors Magazine. Her figurative work has been featured in online publications such as Marie Claire, Creative Boom, The Visionary Projects, A Women’s Thing, Art Reveal Magazine and more. ARTIST STATEMENT// Manipulating the human form through acrylics, pastels and charcoal are my mediums of choice. The body can speak volumes if we are willing to become observant enough; still enough. The way one holds their body in space is an insight to a deeper narrative; an unspoken language. This body language often becomes the main concentration within my work. This communication can be a glimpse into our emotional state; a deeper understanding of who we really are. My work focuses deliberately on the female experience; a stream of narratives through both the conscious and unconscious mind. I challenge viewers to see the female form in neutral context; one where the woman validates her own space. The role of the woman is removed and reformatted through her own experience, but also longs to provoke an uncovering of deeper healing, trauma, loss, acceptance, reflection, and so on. How one presents their body can represent a larger pattern in our story; in both the collective and the deeply personal.
