"Still Life of Five Pears" is part of my still life series that captures the beauty of stillness from everyday objects, food, fruits and veggies.
I am attracted to the colours and shapes of these beautiful pears. This lovely painting reflects how we are all different and no one is perfect or better than another.
This body of work reflects the aspects of our everyday life, what we see, use and consume. It also makes us aware and learns to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us in our daily life, that we normally overlook and neglect.
Pears also symbolise femininity. In Greek and Roman mythology, pears were sacred to three goddesses of gardens and harvests Hera , Aphrodite , and Pomona.

"My work explores the beauty of still life from objects and things around my life. I am inspired by the classical still life paintings especially from the Dutch and Flemish masters. My work often incorporates symbolic objects depicting the beauty of stillness, memory and transience. My concept is to create “Beauty” through the use of colour and composition that provokes thoughts on cultures, philosophies, place and time. Much of my work uses balanced composition with a sense of tranquillity. I am also inspired by the beauty of nature and flowers are one of my favourite subjects to paint. My painting style is realism and I paint predominantly in oil using traditional technique."
