About The Artwork

Generally the titles are insignificant, providing no real additional information, and often solely serving to the indentify the pictures. For it is the effect of motion in the colours, shapes, lines and their ability to reach out to the observer and to communicate thoughts and feelings, the pulsation of space and the gesture-like results that often develop into a whole organic system that really matters. Sometimes even the topic is unimportant serving simply as an excuse to formulate an artistic problem, to describe an experience or to relate to some meditative mood.

Erzsébet was born in Miskolc and now lives in Eger. She graduated from the Faculty of Art at the University of Eger where her teachers were János Seres and János Blaskó. In 1990 she then graduated from the Hungarian College of Fine Arts where she was a pupil os Árpád Szabados. Since 1985 she has been teaching at the Department of Visual Arts of Eszterházy Károly University where she is an associate professor and deputy head of department. Her paintings are meditations on emotions expressed through powerfull strokes and colours. Grounded in real spectacle and individual life experiences, they are drafted in an almost-abstract world expressing a very powerful psychological meaning full of expressive power. This sensibility is built on the dynamism of a pulsating form system, rustic painting surfaces. cold blue and red hot colours layerd upon one another and reflective light and shade that pull the viewer down into the depth of work.
