About The Artwork

Painting "Stone and Water" made on Hahnemühle Watercolour Paper using watercolour, ink, gouache, graphite pencil, and gold acrylic. The aim of the artwork is to capture the graphic quality of winter mountains and the beauty of nature in overcast weather, including the play of reflections of cliffs in the water. The “Spirits of Nature“ series is a captivating collection of photographs and paintings that beautifully capture the serene and mystical atmosphere of the Swiss canton Grisons. The photographs were taken at the end of the valley of Vals, where the majestic Zervreilahorn dominates the landscape and the Zervreila lake shimmers in the foreground. The patterns and reflections of the rocks in the crystal clear water are the central focus of this series. They form an intricate and mesmerizing web of shapes and lines that seem to transcend reality, inviting the viewer to contemplate their meaning and significance. The patterns are ambiguous and open to interpretation, suggesting the presence of spirits, mystical figures, and even human faces. Overall, “Spirits of Nature“ is a visually stunning series that invites the viewer to immerse themselves in the beauty and mystery of the Swiss nature. The choice of materials plays a crucial role in both the photographic and painted works of the "Spirits of Nature" series. For some pieces, like "Brokeback Mountain," I opted for textured paper resembling watercolor, enhancing the depiction of deep grays and subtle shades. This textured surface captures the ethereal quality of clouds above the mountain. Additionally, for the painted works, I chose watercolor paper, seamlessly merging the photographic and painted series, creating a harmonious blend of visual elements.
