The series "stone" is focusing on the fragility of the human condition, depicting moments when we become an object by others, human flesh has been transformed into stone like Medusa’s head petrifies all those who gaze upon it. The surface of the painting has crazing lines (raku) like pottery. The unique look is achieved by the medium of both eastern and western, the interplay between different materials and effects creates entirely new genre from a traditional art form.

born 1982 Korea. Lives and works in France. Wonsun Jung makes a realistic observation of the human condition, both physical and emotional. Her work depicts the primary scene of total desire and the exploration of the body beyond sexuality, through intercultural techniques and selected themes to reinterpret nude and erotic art in terms of sexual equality. In her work, there is a balance and equality between body and sex. The primal scene of total desire and fulfilment not as lascivious way but sensual and equally focused on it's figure and components. She has been working with medium of both eastern and western, i.e. Korean traditional ink and paper, canvas, oil and acrylic etc. Because of her cross cultural exploration, the interplay between different materials and effects lead her to create an entirely new genre from a traditional art form.
