"Street from Boholț village", oil on linen canvas, 50x70cm - painted "en plein air" at international art residence Pro Boholt, RO. A small hamlet nearly abandoned, away from the noise of highways and crowds of big city. Without the Internet and cell phone signal, you could immerse yourself in the tranquility of these places. When I painted, I could hear the grass grows... (...) The order and emotions. I stopped at the “Pryzmat” Gallery of the Visual Artists House, being paused with a strong aura emanating from the several dozen of canvases. I entered that unusual reality. Probably once I have seen a painting by Serge Vasilendiuc, I drew attention to his high art culture but now - when these landscapes are warm even in the moonlight - well, they put the screws on me… Serge Vasilendiuc brings in his artistic work the whole suitcases of the South’s painting tradition, stores them from the basement to the rafters. He is supposed to paint nothing special: some subdued landscapes with a hint of the drawing conventionality and they are, generally speaking, full of harmony. But the rhythm throbs under the mask of this nice melody. And that rhythm extends the art constrictions but it does not destroy them. And that’s just Art! (Marek Sołtysik)
