About The Artwork
This is one of the pigeons in my street. I code-named it 'Dolly', after a character from a children's book from when I was little. Dolly the thick dove. In the first attempt, the pigeon was placed realistically on a background of red brick pavement. It didn't work as the animal disappeared against the background. This vignette turned out to work better and was a fun exercise in using the palette knife. Still, the abstraction is a bit outside of my normal style.
