About The Artwork
The "Dreamscapes" series is a collection of abstract paintings mostly in the acrylic medium with some details in pencil and pastel, inspired by my life in Mexico. It is an exploration of my internal states which manifest as surreal landscapes occupied by energies unseen. I chose the abstract style to express a sense of fun, joy, and wonder. Mixed media materials include, acrylic paint, pastels, crayons, charcoal. "Sunbathers and Fishermen" is painted on wood board and does not include any hanging materials. It was inspired by a road trip along the Yucatecan coast, the blue, white and pink color combination reflects the sunny, hot, Mexican day.

Mexico
Amelia Opalinska grew up in Rzeszow in southeast Poland. She holds B.F.A. in photography and her works have been featured in numerous publications and group shows at SITE Santa Fe and The Gerald Peters Gallery. In 2003 she signed up for a TEFL course in Greece with the intent to go back to her native land. Instead, for the next few years, she traveled extensively through Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. Her photos from Syria were printed in the Publio magazine, and an intimate series depicting her childhood was published by PULSE Media. In 2013 she moved to Mexico, focusing more on her longterm passion for painting. Amelia Opalinska lives and works in Merida, Mexico as she continues to explore painting, writing and photography.
