About The Artwork
Grew up in a countryside, the artist enjoyed seeing the sunflowers bloom in the field. Although sunflowers were not the main crop for the land, they would only be planted before starting to have the next cultivation of the crop. They were the bright decorations when the land was in a rest and tried to store its fertile soil for the next crop. It is a unique way to present the sunflower in the painting, there are no its iconic yellow petals, but I love the way that the yellow dots in the centre, feels like the seeds for me. Unlike in the reality, we would more focus on the bright petals, the seeds are actually the hidden heroes for the plant. The seeds can be used to make into different kind of products , like cooking oil or snacks, to extend the flowers into something more than just look beautiful. Furthermore, they are the critical element to continue the the legacy of sunflowers and make the flowers bloom again and again.
