This seascape, is seen from the SW of the island, that the artist has called home, for 16 years. The stunning assault on the senses, that is a daily occurrence on the paradise, tropical, island of Koh Phangan, and is the starting point for this painting. The sunsets over a glass, smooth, sea. The brushstrokes are expressive as well as detailed. The impact of the natural scene, is expressed, with a heightened pallet, which aims to give something of the experience of being at this scene, as well as the look of it. The painting is worked on in countless sessions, over months, building up layer, after thin layer, to achieve, what the artist wants to convey, whilst the artistic vitality is never lost. The sea has taken prominence in the artist's life, as he has also been a dive instructor, for years and is a keen diver.

My art has always been a celebration of life, from art school, to the present. They are about what I see, and feel. They are about the human condition, and a fascination, with a heroic struggle. They are about love, and they are about form. I have a strong link to western art, taking a circuitous, route, from early art, through classicism, modernism to contemporary art. I reference, and draw from these influences, but also I breathe in culture, in all it’s forms, and from my rich, eventful life. I wish to communicate through my work. I hope you understand.
