ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Swimming solo”makes part of my current serie of paintings “water parallels”. I’m exploring the distortion of reality, how water and light can alter the way something looks. Just like in real life, circumstances,culture, upbringing, gender etc; can influence the way we perceive reality. I’m also making a reference to the fact that even though we might have friends and family who support us in our endeavors, ultimately we make the journey for ourselves on our own. This painting is made with oils on linen stretched on aluminum canvas (to minimize warping) and it includes a hanging system and steel wire for hanging. All materials used are of excellent professional quality.
