About The Artwork
The oil painting "The Trunk and the Sun" presents a modern form where the sun is presented in quite a non-obvious way. Although it gently flirts behind the trunk, its red border provides a strong emphasis. In this painting, the trunk is the main protagonist with the circle of the sun surrounding it with its arms. The buckle provides an interesting closure to the composition. Structurally laid paint creates forms that look like strange stairs. One gets the impression that these are steps to the sun, the climb of which is topped-off by its proximity to this unique star. The dark interior of the trunk in the painting gives a strong depth and expressiveness effect. The red colour pouring out of the interior symoolizes the wound inflicted on nature by man. Renata Dyk is a contemporary Fine Artist currently residing in Poland. Her ingenious ‘Mannekin’ works began after seeing a number of them being sent to landfill and she instinctively knew these would make perfect canvases. With previous experience of painting and selling large scale 3D forms at an art exhibition in Cairo this seemed the natural step forwards. After being commissioned by a fashion company in Poland to create a bespoke ‘Mannekin’ this led to the demand for photographic imagery of these mannequins or part thereof. The ‘Mannekins’ themselves work beautifully as a piece of art in a sculptural form and lend themselves easily to both contemporary and old estate homes. These are, if you like, the contemporary suits of armour on display to show beauty, craftsmanship and status. Equally, the photographic images of whole and part ‘Mannekin’ are striking and work as a single piece or as a set in fashionable interiors.
