About The Artwork
I like traditional painting and landscape, I often paint in plein air because the colors inspire me.The foundation of her artistic practice is continuous communication with the medium of painting and her surroundings. Through her different series, she contrasts distinct motifs surfacing from the shards of reality with large washes of painterly gesture. Painting that charts geometric, spatial constructions with the help of free-roaming gestures, does not fit into the box, but also cannot remain outside of it. The brushstrokes keep the austere planes in continuous flux. The notion of the cube is kept alive exactly by its impossibility. Like a wardrobe that does not close because of the fat heap of clothes: space opens up and starts its protean quest. The drawers slightly open, and the ghosts of the house roam free. One can almost grasp the stillness of inanimate material.

Erzsébet was born in Miskolc and now lives in Eger. She graduated from the Faculty of Art at the University of Eger where her teachers were János Seres and János Blaskó. In 1990 she then graduated from the Hungarian College of Fine Arts where she was a pupil os Árpád Szabados. Since 1985 she has been teaching at the Department of Visual Arts of Eszterházy Károly University where she is an associate professor and deputy head of department. Her paintings are meditations on emotions expressed through powerfull strokes and colours. Grounded in real spectacle and individual life experiences, they are drafted in an almost-abstract world expressing a very powerful psychological meaning full of expressive power. This sensibility is built on the dynamism of a pulsating form system, rustic painting surfaces. cold blue and red hot colours layerd upon one another and reflective light and shade that pull the viewer down into the depth of work.
