As an equine artist, I strive to have my art reflect the horse in all its artistic forms from realism to abstract, and to also learn the history of how the horse has been depicted in art across time and culture.

I am especially intrigued with the Tang Horse, which is no dainty Arabian but seemed to be built for strength and agility according to the way the Chinese drew and sculpted them.

Ironically, I knew a quarter horse built much like the Tang horses, including the bobbed tail (his was bit off by a dog when he was a colt) which gives more credibility to the Tang artists were influenced by how those horses may have really looked.

very affordable price for this colorful piece which includes matting and frame.

About the Artist Susan Barackman: Susan began drawing horses at age 4 on the back of her father's blueprints. School work often carried horsey scribbles in the margins. At the age of 12 she went door to door selling pencil drawings for just 25 cents each. Susan works in pencil, acrylic and water color. Her paintings hang in corporate offices of Cactus Saddlery and Baylor Hospital Hotel and her work has won awards on both the local and national levels. After retirement from 27 years in the educational field, Susan has started a whole new sideline of designing custom saddle stands (Susan's Saddle Stands) but still remains active painting, drawing and fulfilling portrait commissions.
