About The Artwork
This painting was inspired by the notebooks and memopads that I use in my woodworking and artistic practice. Testing to see if a pen works by making a gestural mark, a squigglely line on the paper, by writing test. These marks can have a deeper history; abstract expressionism, cy twombly, writing test as a test--there are many ways to take this piece, and I enjoy to leave it open ended. The dying red pen lays down in the distance.
