Often I listen to lectures on YouTube by archaeologists, since I'm interested in human evolution. How our brain developed, how evolved our imagination and creative thinking. Recently, I read an article by Genevieve von Petzinger (Paleoanthropologist and rock art researcher) about prehistoric Abstract symbols found by archaeologists in ancient caves. The oldest known images in primitive art are abstract symbols. Unfortunately, geometric images cannot be compared in beauty with figurative cave art, for example, with powerful bulls in the Lascaux cave. As a result, most abstract images were ignored by early archaeologists, who considered them nothing more than scribbles.

Here I used two symbols once depicted in ancient caves. I also used a playing card (Ace of Spades), as one of the symbols of our modern culture.
I adore playing cards because I'm a professional magician.

This painting was painted in multiple layers of oil paint that working together in my finished artwork – thus a richer color effect. Each layer was complemented by texture effects (scratches, pencil lines, pastels, etc.). As a result, the painting looks grungy with different colors and textures.

I made the shape of the symbols very thick black layer, thick enough that the brush strokes are visible. Impasto provides texture; the paint appears to be coming out of the canvas, it adds expressiveness to the painting.

"From 52 caves" - Rich textured painting with oil on premium cotton canvas.
Modern abstract expressive artwork. This is a one of a kind artwork, created and painted by me /Retne/.
The textured and structures create a very interesting and changing look of the artwork.
It comes ready to hang with a hook on the back.
