"This is a modern representation about Giovanni Verga's theory (described in the Malavoglia romance) called “the ideal of the oyster”. This means that, every social background remain attached to its own origin, indifferently to the efforts someone could make for a change. In facts isn't enough appear different from what you are. A mussel remain a mussel, an oyster remain an oyster." In facts I wanted to represent common normal people with this guy who is trying to change his own aspect for a deep change of his life condition but he don’t realize that he’s only modifying the outside aspect, the core will remain as usual. For this reason the high level people (represented by Queen Elisabeth) look a little bit dazed this approach who isn’t really able to change the roots. ATTENTION: the artwork will be sent into a tube with no wooden frame.

Stefano Borella (b. 1991) approaches art thanks his mom’s passion for drawing, ceramic decoration and sculpture. This multifaceted vision allows the artist to test his figurative vocation which easily finds its own expression analyzing the link between feelings and images. His artistic identity is expressed through the essence of black like a free approach to the creation, mainly focusing over emotions and sensations. In his works redundant is the usage of dissonant elements, useful to underline the artist's "tragicomic" vision who try to answer to the big questions of life.
